zette scolded a Soviet country doc
tor Thursday for paying as much
attention to his pigs as he does
to his patients.
Target of the Oazctte's blast was
a Doctor Kuzmln, former head of
a small rural hospital In Udmurlia.
The Oazetle declared Kuzmln's
first act when he took over con
trol of the hospital was to order
that all scraps from the kitchen
be turned over to him to feed his
pigs. . .
In fact, tho uazette said, Kuzmln
spent almost as much tlmo setting
up a livestock farm for himself
as he did on ministering to tho
needs of his patients.
Furthermore, the paper ssld,
Kuzmln ordered his hospital staff
to report to him what the local
gossips were saying about him.
When they refused, the Oazette
said, Kuzmln created nasty soenes
in front of the patients and even
tried to have the staffers fired.
When news of Kuzmln's activi
ties reached the Udmurtln health
ministry through party channels,
the Gazette said., they did not
punish him as they should have.
Instead, the ministry arranged
to transtrr Kuzmln to a nearby
hospital. Tills, aald the Gazette,
made everyone gleeful, except the
staff at the new hospital.
