Mme. Jacmiea Bollinger, a cham
pagne lady from Ay-Champagiie,
France, is here with the happy tid
ings that the first post-war vintage
campagne is now ready for Inter
national muling.
"We call It the liberation vin
tage," the said, with a friendly
'rench smile.
Actually, the grapes that went
mu the vintage 'is champagne
were the second post-liberation har
vest. Thare was a crop tn the fall
of IStt, after the Nasi were driv
en out of the vineyards, but It
didn't turn out to be a vintage year.
The grapes that grew In '43 pro
duced the first post-war champagne
to merit the word vintago.

plained the meaning of "vintage."

The grapes ore small and puny.
But they taste exquisite and, make
the only true champagne."
