beast until he enlists a new recruit, and then to pass it on
to another member. Shortly after Elder got the hamster
it gave birth to 11 little hamsters, so now he is stuck with
the prospect of getting 12 new 8 et 40 members, one for
the mother and one each for the little ones, before he can
get rid of the family. And haste is of the essence. Ham
sters are capable of" reproducing every couple of weeks.

Recent headline happenings of Bar
bara Payton, Franchot Tone, Ava
Gardner. F.ank Einatra and others
have brought another flood of pro
test from Flldom's crlUcs.
But what the the facts? Holly
wood claims that It Is as normal
as any other community, the dif
ference belne that when us nota
bles misbehave, they make news.
The town's critics claim that It is
s cesspool of sin.
Neither view is correct. Holly
wood Is neither as goal as It
claims pr as bd as outsiders paint
Even In this Klnsey age. there
Is no yardstick for measuring im
morality. The film Industry often
points proudly to a survey made by
Hollywood reoorter in 1947. The
paper polled the habits of 1235 of
its readers. It reported that 70.1
percent had never been divorced.

and who abide bv the laws of mo

'Hollywood Is the last of the
gold rush towns In the West. It Is
one of the few places left whero a
person can get rich so fast and
