$25 Dues
For Doctors
WASHINGTON. Dec I MV-The
American Medical association today
rated 36-a-year compulsory dues
for Ita members.
Tha fund irom the dues will fl
nance the AMAs campaign against
"socialised medicine' as well aa
provide financing for other AMA
activities.
Dr. Oeorge Lull, general manager
of the AMA. told reporters the as
sessment would probably apply to
about 83 per cent of the organiza
tion's total membership of 143.000.
On that basts. It would provide
annual funds of about 13.000.000.
Lull aald several physicians and
honorary and associate members of
AMA'a state medical societies prob
ably would be enmpt. Exemptions
wtU be determined by the state so
cieties themselves.
Officials aald tha AMA had never
before had compulsory dues al
though Ita constitution permits
them.
