ington, where they will visit Mrs.

Before returning home they will

Student in both schools enjoyed
turkey dinner on Wednesday at
the grade school cafeteria. Almost
everyone In both schools as well
as all the faculty members were
on hand to eat the turkey and all
the fixings prepared by the cook.

Fort Klamath by her daughter. Mrs.

staying. Mrs. Moon is reported a
being slightly Improved at this time.
John Grant, owner and manager
of the Wood River auto court, made
a business trip Friday to Redmond,
where he also owns a motel.
William A. Page went to Portland
last Tuesday evening, and la a pa
tient at St. Vincent's hospital for
medical observation and treatment
for a severe skin rash from which
he Is suffering. Word has been re
ceived here by relatives that he is
much Improved since his arrival at
the hospital.
Another local resident Is also at
this time under medical care at St.
Vincent's hospital In Portland. Mrs.
Eldon M. Brattaln, who was hos
pitalized for several months, re
cently In Klamath Falls and who
had been dismissed from the hoe- I
pital and was visiting relatives in
Ukeview, suddenly became worse
and was taken to Portland to the
hospital. Nothing has as yet been
learned a to her condition.
Friends will be glad to hear that
Mrs. William C. Hackler came home
Sunday from the Klamath Valley
hospital In Klamath Falls, where
she underwent surgery last week.
Although still under the doctor's
care, Mrs. Hackler advised friends
here that she is feeling fine, which
Is a cheery note In the rather de
pressing wave of illness which
seems to be scourging our little
community lately.
It must also be reported that a
beloved long-time resident. Mrs.
Nettle J. Bishop, Is very critically

has been in the hospital for some
months past after several parlaytle
strokes made It Imperative that she
be removed to Klamath Falls for
medical care. Mrs. Bishop has no
relatives here, hei only son. Leon,
living at Pasco. Wash, with his
wife and small daughter. She has,
however, a wide circle of friends
who will indeed regret to leam of
her condition.
Two new employes have been add
ed to the Fort Klamath petrol of
tne Oregon state highway depart
ment, and one local employe. Sher
man Mayer, quit recently to move
to Klamath Falls to make his home
and where he Is now employed. The
Mayer ranch at the Chlloquin Junc
tion has been rented to one of the
new men here. Bun-ell Treat and
family, who are now living there,
the second new arrival. Earl Wor
den. having come to Fort Klamath
with his wife and son to make
his home.
Work on the new state hiahwav
shop here has been going ahead,
the fine weather prevailing having
been a great help In getting the
work done. Enoch Maerx, contrac
tor of Salem who Is in charge of
tne construction, estimates that the
shop will be completed in about two
weeks at the morr.

Zumbrun made a business trio to
Madras last Wednesday.

Clifford Sargent arrived home
Sunday after a six-weeks' stay at
the Veterans' hospital in Portland,
where he underwent two surgical op
erations and he plans to return in
March for a third operation. Sargent
makes his home here with his
grandmother. Mrs, Lona Johnson.
Leaving this week to winter at
Holuster, Calif, are two employes of
Hswkin Cattle companv and their
wives. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wise
and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Corona. The
men will be employed at the Haw
kins ranch there for the winter, and
in charge of the local ranch will
be Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Veden, who
with their son and daughter, live
at the ranch south of here. Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Hawkins and their
two small children also left this
week for Hollister. where they will
remain until the cattle are shipped
here In the spring.
All the cattle on the extensive lo
cal Hawkins Cattle company ranch
were shipped south, the last lot of
stock being driven over to Chlloquin
last week for consignment by rail
to California. It has been remarked
