Prowler Killed
In Portland
PORTLAND. Nov. 31 (IP) A night
prowler was killed late Saturday
while prying open a window through
which Uia owner fired two bullets.
Police later Identified the slain
man aa Charles O. Cottom. 31, for
merly of Oskland. Csltf, who
served a term for forgery. A .45
caliber automatic pistol and a clip
of bullets were found beside the
body.
Dr. Rowland H. Kreulter, owner
of the Canine clinic and hospital
where the shooting occurred, was
quoted by police aa reporting he
had first yelled a warning and then
fired two M cal'ber bullets. Police
said there may hava bean an ac
complice. A car sped away from
near the scene after the shooting.
