II TOUCH of winter Is beginning
to creep Into the air these days,
and especially these ntornlngs.
Won't be long now until there
should be some Ice skating. And
thla year the ardent fans of Uie
sport will have a larger and better
place to Indulge. Ham Hinllh and
the boys from the city have kept
busy with their project out past
Moore park and have both en
larged and Improved Uie rink there,
There la more space for Ice, and
across the rosd Is more space to
park, which proved quite a prob
lem last yesr. The shed haa been
Improved and all In all things are
looking pretty bright. It's all up
to tha weatherman now.
THE skies seem to have been full
of flaming objects lately, with
reports coming In from avery direc
tion but most of them agreeing that
what they saw was In the west. A
huge, bluish bsll of fire with a tall
was seen by seversl people, and
other manifestations of heavenly
fiieworka have been reported. Some
of them may be explained away by
the fact that Babe Reeder waa test
ing out a goose flare Thursdsy
night. A goose flsre Is a bomb shot
from a 30 04 rifle and Is used to
scare birds off the grain fields

object In the sky which he spotted

Horticultural society ended here
Friday afternoon following a two
day conference of more than 100
