waa quickly dispelled this morning
when KU11S student were gathered
together In an all-school victory as
sembly. John Houston, a local busi
nessman, acted a master of cere
monies and the program Included a
parody to "Allo-ette" specially writ
ten for ' the occasion by Wendell
Smith, head counselor at KUHS.
Other local personalities were at the
assembly Including Mayor Robert
Thompson.
The Student Congress, composed
of representative from each home
room, last week approved putting
two amend menu to the KUHS con
stitution In regard to the rally squad
to a student body vote.
One amendment deal with the
method of (electing the rally squad,
which In the past has been up to
the old and new yell leaders and the
old rally squad. The amendment
provide that a special committee
composed of student and faculty
elect A list of fifteen candidate
and the atudent body select the yell
squad from this list. The other
amendment make the rally squad
sponsored by the school In that ex
pense for the group would be paid
by the school for a squad not to
exceed seven members.

ever, to become effective they must

A new plan for an organization
of "student counselor" wss pre

At Prison Fire
SALEM, Ore. Oct. 17 UP) Penl

their cell window last night while
city firemen brought tinder control
a fire that broke out In the laundry
building Inside the prison walls.
Warden Oeorge Alexander said
there was no rioting or disturbance
connected with the fire. All the
ernvlcts were locked In their cell
when the fire wa detected.

burned and pressing machinery on
the second floor of the brick walled
