THIS Is national fire prevention
week. It started yesterday and
will run through nest Sunday
making It another of those eight
day weeks. Tire prevention day was
first proposed by the now defunct
Fire Marshals Assoclstlon of North
America which proposed the move
to remind the public of fire losses.
This was in 1911 on the 40lh an
niversary of the great Chicago fire.
It became fire prevention week in
! 1921 by proclamation of President
' Harding.

for 1949 which la quite a chunk
of cash. When you look at the bos

dangerous little things can be.

Sent Barbara Folk Dancing club,
will organize and direct a folk
dancing club at OTI. Western.
European, and Mexican styles will
be Instructed.
This class will be open to Klam
eath Falls and surrounding com
munities. Those Interested may
sign up on club forms that will be
available in the recreation hall on
the campus.
The initial meeting Is scheduled
for October 13. from 7 to 10:30. In

Oary Smith la' the son of Mrs.
Marguerite landis and lives at 3950 ,
Summers lane. He was president of
the Honor Society and also of the :

woman student to graduate

tion as medical technician with

ter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur

afternoon when Itlchard Morris Kel
ler, 69-year-old New Pine Creek
resident, was killed Instantly as his
car left highway 399 two milea north
of New Pine Creek.
Keller and hla wife, Faye, were
dilvlng north when the car awerveif
as It rounded a wide curve. Mrs,
Keller said she spoke to her hus
band but he did not answer and the
machine started off the road, first
on the right side and then to the
left where It overturned several
times and took out row of fenr
posts.

Keller was thrown clear of the
machine. His wife suffered bruisea
but her condition was guod today.
II Is thought that Keller may hava
suffered a heart attack Just befme
the accident.
The accident victim was born No
