Separated Seventy
Years; Reunited
SYRACUSE N. Y., Oct. 1 Wi A
75-year-old Oregon woman walked
oft an airplane yesterday into the
arms of a brother whom she had
not seen for 70 years.
Mrs. Mary Gerretse of Cannon
Beach, Ore, said she located her
brother. George Fist 77. of near

trying to trace her birth certificate.
Fisk said he and his sister were
separated while their family was
living near Lake Placid.
Before painting. Inspect the sur
face of wall and trim. With a broad
knife, wire brush or aand paper,
remove rust, blister, and dirt, and
repair all rotted spots. Never un
derestimate Uie Importance of a
smooth clean surface that la In goad
repair.
After preparing Uie surface, go to
a reputable dealer and let him ad- .
vise you about the beat type of paint
for your particular home. Be will,
also tell you how many coats to ap
ply and how much you need.
Start painting at the upper left
hand corner of one wall. The upper
surface, should be painted first so
that dropping paint and Uie move
ment of ladders will not mar the
freshly painted surface. Trim paint
goes on after the body coat.
Smooth, even, back and forth
strokes will cover best and Uie
paint should be well brushed Into
Uie wood. And don't fill Uie paint
pots. Skilled painters have found
that a bucket one-half to two-thirds
full is Uie most convenient f) handle
on ladder, and scaffolding.
Allow 48 to 72 hour, between coats
to prevent cracking or "alligator
Ing." Shrubbery should be tied back
from l touching Uie freshly painted
surface and shouldn't be released,
unll the paint la dry. Drop cloth,
spread over flower beds, however,
can be removed as soon as the ad
jacent section of Uie house la painted.
