why the smoke and haze Is so un-
usually noticeable today.
The weathermen explain that con
ditions today are known as tem
perature inversion." Normally, the
air near the ground Is wanner than
at higher altitude, but today the
air high above I warmer, and
smoke and haze hover close to the
ground.
Smoke-haze conditions are evident
throughout Southern Oregon. CAA
reports. Klamath Forest Protective
association lookouts were hampered
by one-quarter of a mile visibility
today.
