William Combs has returned to
Lakeriew, his work as linemen in
installing the dial telephone system
here for the West Coast Telephone
company ha Ting been completed.
Mis wife and small daughter had re
turned to Lakeriew previouslv. the
family having been In Fort Klam
ath for the past three months while
Combs was employed locally by the
telephone company, having been
vent here by the company from
Lakenew, where he has his home
and works for the company.
Mrs. Maude McDonald, mother
of Mrs. Robert Cable of Port Klam
ath, la 111 at her home tn Klamath
rails, and Mrs. Cable has been with
her mother for some tune. Mrs.
McDonalds brother. Hugh Roulty
of Port Klamath, went to Klamath
Falls last week to visit her also.
Mr. and Mrs. Oene Corbin and
Infant son Hyall of Stockton. Calif,
are risiung here for three weeks at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Oray.
Klamath Fall visiotrs on Wed
nesday were Mrs. Ray Kellr. Mrs.
Marvin Roeder. and Mrs. Herbert
Hinz. the latter visiting here from
Merrill Wis. with her brother-in-law,
sister and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Marvin Roeder, sons Donald and
Clark, and also with her father.
Charles J. Bricco of the Crater Lake
cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Hini and their
three sons left Monday after being
here with their relatives for t h e
past week, and from here went to
Brookings to en)oy the salmon fish
ing. On the trip west from Wis
consin to Fort Klamath, they took
the northern route, and will return
home via the south, stopping at Gal
veston. Tex. to visit en rout home.
On Sunday, the Wisconsin visitors,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
Roeder and sons, and by Charles J.
Bricco, made a trip to Crater and
Diamond lakes, enjoying the lovely
fall weather prevailing here at this
tune.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood and
daughters moved last week to Chilo
quin, where Wood commenced work
with the Chiloquln state highway
crew on Thursday. He came here
last year Irom the Chiloquin d 1
rision, and last week received his
transler back there. The Wood fam
ily has rented the Roy Deffenbacher
property and moved their house
hold furniture and belongings there

Mrs. Edna Orth and her mother,
Mrs. Viola Leever, are enjoying a
two weeks' trip and visit with rela
tives at Bandon, Ore, and are ex
pected back home this coming
week-end. They made the tnp to
the coast by bus.
Canadian visitors here last week
were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wardell,
of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who left for
home this past week-e n d after
spending several days with Mr. and
Mrs. Olen Smith and family at the
Modoc Lumber company 7-m 1 1 e
camp where Smith la employed.

Mra. Axel Sarutyski, to compete for
the title of queen of the Potato Fes
Ural. The queen la selected on the
basis of the number of tickets sold,
each ticket representing a certain
number of votes and will be on sale
for on week only. The girl having
the largest number of votes will
compete with the winners from
Tulelake. Merrill, Chiloquin. Henley
and Dorris at the Queen's Ball
which will be held in the Commu
nity hall at Merrill October 15th.

Mrs. Chester Stonecypher was

Jury. She plans to stay In that aity
until the Jury la dismissed.
Word was received last week by
Shirley K. Johnson that she had
been awarded a scholorshlp by the
University board that will cover her
tuition for the year. Shirley left
Sunday for Eugene where she will
resume her studies.
Potato digging on a small scale
has been started In the Malln area,
those reported to have started har
vest operations are. West Lyon Co.,
Dean King and J. A. Carpenter.
Large scale operation however is
not expected to start before the 25th
of the month.

turned home after an extensive trip
