Alice Pohll has ben working at the Corner Store since the first of the month. i George Brautlacht has been backj on the job tor Southern Pacific tor nearly two weeks following an ex tensive stay in the company hospi tal in San Francisco. Brautlacht was accompanied home by his wife I and son, Edward, who had traveled to the bay city for that purpose. Elaine Mangum returned to Chllo-1 QUin last week-end after spending j several days visiting with friends In Toppentsh. Wash. I Mr. and Mrs. Ross Handburr and daughter Rose Ann are moving this week to the Forest Freid's house In south Chiloquin. Freids have now i moved Into their new home, pur chased from Uu Kenneth Roberts.! Mr. and Mrs. Richard Atiyeh and ! son Oeorse of Portland have been visiting at the home of Mrs. Atiyeh parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Blocklincer. Sally Blockunger has gone to Berkeley. Calif, to enter her sopho more year in pre-medicine at the University of California. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mangum were Rev. and Mrs. Jxnes C. Merwln of Monta Vista, Calif, and Ray Pedigo, also of Mon ta Vista. On Monday morning the first Na tional School Asembly program ot the year was presented at the local gymnasium. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Lewis gave a sleight of hand and ventriloquist show which delighted the students. Mrs. George Brautlacht and son Edward spent four days last week In Salem with her mother, Mrs. Viola Welch, and spent considerable time at the state fair. Mrs. Cyril Cook. Mrs. Walter Zimmerman, Mrs. Paul Mudge and Mrs, Vemon Norval drove to Pnne Tille last Thursday to attend an all day session of republican women. Over 300 were in attendance from all over the state ot Oregon. William Lorenx returned on Sat urday from a business trip to Port land and a stop over in Salem when he attended the slate fair. Mayors of Oregon Day. and saw state of ficials on city business. Lorenx was guest on Thursday evening at an open house lor Oregon mayors given by the mayor of Salem and which was also attended by Gov ernor Douglas McKay and U. a Senator Wayne Morse. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer "Bud" Gen try are the parents of an pound 13 ounce baby girl born September 1. at Klamath Valley hospital. The little girl has been named Ila Ann, The Gentrys have one other daugh ter. Nancy, and four boys. Both the city and agency fire departments were called out one af ternoon last week when slashings on vacant lota owned by Mr. and Mrs. William Lorenx caught on fire. The area, located in west Chiloquin ad joining the Friedman Kirk resi dence, has been recently logged. No extensive damage was done, as the two fire departments arrived promptly and stayed on the Job un til all da ger was past. Mr. and Mrs. Frank DiUlio and Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Wolff attended the state fair In Salem last week end. Leaving for Oregon State college In Corvallls is Lorna Roser, daugh of Mrs. Athel B. Roser. New Pine Creek Many local persons are looking forward to the big fireman's ball at Davis Creek tins Saturday night. September 17, sponsored by mem bers of the new Four Corner's fire district. The purpose of the dance is to help raise money to pay tor the lire house they have been con structing at the Willow Ranch cross roads. Everyon should feel an in terest in these affairs put on by the initiative of a few who are respon sible for the general good. By the way you might just have a bang up good time right along with it. September 13, at the home of Mrs. Lillian Reid. Present were five members and three guests, Mrs. Hilda Barry. Mrs. Dorothy McDonald, and Mrs. Tressie Reid. Fannie Fisher received her anni versary gilt from her secret pal. The hostess entertained her guests with a time quia. Thelma Butler re ceived first prise and Eunice Cog burn second prise. Delicious re freshments of apricot pie a la mode and coffee were served. Amy Cloud will be the next hostess at the meeting to be held In her home on Tuesday afternoon, October 4. Ray McCoul and wife. Mrs. Mc Coul's parents, brother and Qlster. Mr. and Mrs. Abrahamson. son Jackie and daughter Joyce, left last Wednesday for their home in Min neapolis. Minn, after spending a week visiting with Ray McCoul s mother and step father. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mulkey of Willow Ranch. Ray McCoul was formerly of Lake view. CpL Lee Sanders wno has been home from the service on a 10-day furlough visiting his parents in Lakeview. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sanders, visited tor awhile here at the post office before taking the stage back to his station at Ft. Bliss, Texas on Tuesday morning. He is In the ordnance battalion of the regular army and has two more years in the service. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Thayer and family went to Klamath Falls last Saturday to attend a conference of the Latter Day Saints church. Mrs. Mary A. Hite and daughter and mother. Mrs. J. C. Sevcik went along to visit friends and to attend to some business. Mr. and Mrs. L. Snider, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Henderson, Tom Dick and T. E. Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. Wal ter King were among those from New Pine Creek to attend the Cali fornia state fair at Sacramento. Mrs. Mary Snider won three blue ribbons and two red ribbons on her display of wild plums at the Cedar vllle fair this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Clark and family of Adin. Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Dean of Burns, were week-end visitors of relatives, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Thayer. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Scrivner and William Smith. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Dean are 8mlth's daughters. They all took In the Lakeview Round-up and fair.
