Southpaw Nile Jordan of the
Gems (hot at 20 games last night
and hit the target dead center, but
Bill Carr of Pituburg did the same
thing.
Both were hoping to become the
only 20-game winners in the Far
West baseball league this season
and both needed two wins yester
day to make It. , Here at Oems
stadium Jordan pitched his tram
to a 10-3 win over the Marysrille
Braves In the first game ot a
dcubleheader and elected to work
the second game also. He came off
with an even better-pitched 9-3
win.
Carr, a righthander, won his
lath game by blanking Willows
1-0 on one hit. then set the Red
birds down with only seven hits for
a 10-4 nightcap victory and his
big No. 20.
All yesterday's season - closing
games were held to seven Innings.
Jordan and Carr. destined to go
up next season, finished with 20-7
and 20- w on-lost records respec
tively. The league high mark for
pitchers, set last year by Medford
Manager Larry Bhepard. Is 22-3.
Medford yesterday topped Red
ding In both ends ot a twin bill
t-4 and 10-i with George Pain
and John McMillan going the route
to win each game.
TITLE TO PITT
As was In the bag already. Pitts
burg won the Par West league
championship, finishing tour and
a half game ahead of the Gems.
Willows came In third and Red
ding fourth. The league's Shaugh
Deny playoff starts Wednesday
and In the first round Pittsburg
plays Willows and Klamath Palls
takes on Redding. The first round
Is three out of five.
Saturday's scores all around the
league were: Klamath t. Redding
: Marysville 12. Medford 4: Wil
lows , Pittsburgh 8.

Palls 10: Willows 10. Pittsburg X.
Although Jordan's pitching was
the big noise yesterday, the Oems
got plenty of boom from their bats.
In the first game Pinky Hesse and
Ken Jensen each homered and in
the nightcap Jack Buick slammed
tut his first professional ball home
run. Lee Kast hit for four bases
for Marysville in the latter game.
Jordan allowed six hits in the
opener, four In the nightcap and
In the latter defeated Pete Swain.
MarysvUle-! top pitcher who was
looking for his 19th victory. Pinky
Hesse swiped his 40th base In the
nightcap to capture league booors
