Dredging Bids
PORTLAND. Sept 1 IJP The
army engineers were considering
today the 11119.123 low bid of two
Seattle firms for dredging the main
ship channel In the Umpqua river
from Reedport to a point 4.4 mllea
above the river mouth.
The bid. lowest of four, was
above the government estimate of
14S.wi. it was submitted by Man-
son Construction and Engineering
company and Osburg Construction
company.
The project would Include dredg
lng the rlvr.' to a depth of 22 feet
and width of 200 feet, and dredging
a (00 by 1000 foot turning basin to
the same depth.
