SALES CARRY GRAINS DOWN
CHICAGO. Aug. 30 (Pv Selling by commission houses and liquida
tion by local traders carried all grains lower toward the close of today's
board of trade session.
Cash dealers were credited with selling September wheat as earlier
commercial demand subsided. Corn reacted with wheat when corn
bookings on a to-arrive basis were placed at 125.000 bushels.
Starting on a steady basis, futures advanced, until a wave of sell
ing hit soybeans midway through the morning session. Some recovery
developed, but the market failed to regain Its steady tone.
At the finish wheat was S to IS lower than yesterday's close.
S2 001.-1. Corn -fas higher to "s lower, September U.261.-1.. Osis
were unchanged to S lower, September 87. Rye wa i to S lower.
September $1.38. Soybeans were Vi to J cents lower. November

cation if they will pa.ss a bill rais
ing minimum wages from 40 to 75
cents an hour by tomorrow night.
The GOP leaders, senator Taft
of Ohio and Wherry of Nebraska,
told a reporter they probably would
go along with Lucas' suggestion,
which Includes night sessions to
night and tomorrow II necessary.
The proposed senate recess would
extend over Labor Day through
next Tuesday.
Taft, chairman of the senate re
publican policy commute and a
member of the senate labor com
mittee, opened the second day of
deba'e by voicing his support for
the "bill as a whole."
