Colleges Start In Late September

In September. fceglitxaUon week at both Oregon and Oregon State
will be September 19 to 34 thu year and dauea will commence on
September it at both slate schools. Southern Oregon college reg
istration will be September 32 to 2t with the clssses opening Bep
tember J7.
Enrollment at the University of Oregon Is expected to be between
ftOOO and 8000. and at Oregon State, between (000 and 7000.
Rush week dates at the University ol Oregon will be held from
September 11 to 16 and Oregon State sororities and fraternities will
rush new members during registration week, with rushing beginning

Among those student leaving are about 64 who graduated from
Klamsth Union high school. KUH3 sent out 64 transcripts to various
colleges on the west coast for Its graduating senior class, which Is
about 30 per cant of the 23S spring graduates.
As ususl the greatest number has chosen local state schools.
Twenty-two students are going to Oregon State at Corvallls In tha
fall, 1 are bound for the University of Oregon In Eugene, six for
Southern Oregon college In Ashlsnd.
Other schools, which will receive Klamath graduates are the Uni
versity of Washington. Sacramento Junior college, Stephens In Colum
bia, Mo, Colorado Women's college, Wheaton university In Illinois,
North West Christian college, Clark college In Vancouver, Mill,
Pomona. Lewis and Clark. Armstrong Business college, Willamette,
University of Nevada, North Dakota Agricultural college and several
nursing schools.
A number of students received scholarships last spring and Intend
to continue their education.
The Oeorgla Collier scholarship went 'to Patricia Ward, and
others were from the University of Oregon Mothers in Klamath Palls
to Robert Hooker, University of Oregon Mothers and Dads to Helen
Jsrkson and Sharon Williams, Oregon Congress of Parent Teachers
to Delora Hrdlund and Janet Russell for work at OSC.
Tha Oregon system of higher education gave tuition and free
arholarshlpa to the University of Oregon to Prtsellla Hutchlns,
Sharon Williams, Helen Jackson and Patricia Ward.
An Oregon 8tate college scholarship went to Colleen Creswell.
She also received the AAUW scholarship.
The DAR scholarship went to John Kerbow, the Delta Kappa
Osmma scholarship was given to Helen Jackson and the John
Herron Art award went to Patrick Baker.

There'll be no drastic clothes changes when school doors swing open
for the lmS-MM sesson but college, high school and elementary students
will try out a few new fads.
College men seem to be going for ahlrta In pastel shades with wide
spread collars and French cuffs. The stress also seems to be on purchase
of euff links, ties, handkerchiefs and socks to blend Into an eye-catching
color scheme.
Blus drnlm slacks also seem to be catching on, not only with returning
high schoolers but also college-goers.
Those planning to return to college In the fall also are aiming for

Cords and slip-over sweater will be a standby for high school boys
with a few choosing leather flight Jacket.
In the shoe department, brogues with double and even triple soles are
the gener.il choice of high school and university men.
In fsct, the smsll fry boys In elementary school are showing signs
of leaning toward thlck-soled brogues as their favorite footwear.
And the kids are steering awsy from the conservative with a definite
liking for bold-striped T-shirt and gay socks.
