year longer than the prewar life
span, the office of vital statistics
said today.
The aversga life expectancy for
white women at birth la 70 6 years
and. for white men, 68 3 years, ac
cording to calculation based on
1947 death rates.
In 1946 white women had a life
expectancy at birth of 70 3 yeara
for the first lime exceeding th Bib
lical three-acore-yeara-and - ten
and white men could expect an
average life of 68 I year.
The figure for non-whlt women
In 1947 was 61.9 and for non-white
men 67 9. The average for th ne.
