Tule Field Station
Open House Slated

scheduled for Thursday. August 4,
according to Burton J. Hoyle. man
ager, which will combine visit to
the station and a tour of farms.
A free lunch will be aerred at
noon by the Tulelake Growers as
sociation, sponsor of the station.
In cooperation with the College of
Agriculture, University of Califor
nia. Several specialists from the uni
versity will be on hand. M. V.
Maxwell and Jack Hays, farm ad
visors of Siskiyou and Modoc coun
ties, will also be present.
Roycroft Named
"Man Of Month"
Lynn Roycroft. Klamath Palls In
surance salesman, was named "Man
of the Month" for June by his com
pany. Standard Insurance. This
honorary award Is for the top sales
volume In company-wide compe
tition. Roycroft placed fifth In the
organisation for salea the first six
months of IMS.
In June. Mr. and Mrs. Roycroft
attended the Standard Insurance
convention In the Empress hotel In
Victoria, B. C, for having qualified
for the Leaders' dub during the year
ending in May.

the stale highway department.
The stretch, for which the con
tract was let April 15. Is from
Henry Semon's ranch to the im
proved section at the Lost River
bridge.

Work on the T.8-mll stretch will
include the widening of Ilia shoul
ders and resurfacing with rock and
oil.

more, state highway resident en
gineer. Crews have been buy since May
33 stock-piling material from the
rock quarry two-miles east of Mac's
store. The stock-piling plant was
shut down last week and road work
started Monday of this arek.
Twelve thousand yards of rock
was stock-piled for the highway
chore.
Whitmore said this week Hint It
will not be necessary lo establish
detours during the highway con
struction. But the stretch will be
under restricted conditions and
traffic will be controlled with the
use of signs and flagmen.
Motorists are cautioned to use ex
treme care from now until the end
of October, estimated time tor cul
