Klamath Schools Get Going

school office about 30 schools are
belli repaired.
In the outlying county districts
repairs consist mostly of lighting
and painting, although such pro
jects as the new Henley school and
Peterson school Involve entirely new
construction.
Plans that have been made for
repairs are similar to those done
e.ery year and are mostly those
of maintenance, come of the re
pairs plauned are as follows:
Benansa: Installation of new
ecfter line, stoker for furnace, and
finishing of coal sited.
Fart Klamath: Installation of
new furnace, remodeling of fuel
storage facilities, repair of roof,
painting of coal shed and pump
house.
Kens: Painting of principals liv
ing quarters, installation of new
lights In classroom.
Bly: Revamping of sewer line,
roof repairs, and furnace repairs.

his military aid. Maj. Oen. Harry
A. Vaughan. lor his recent brush
with newsmen who questioned him
about "five percenters" who alleg
edly used Influence to obtain gov
ernment contracts.
The incident occurred July 1 1
when Vaughan returned with his
family from a "tree-week vacation
trip to Guatemala, Vaughan de
clined to comment on a coming
congressional investigation of "five
percenters" and expressed anger
when one reporter questioned him
about the financing of his vacation
trip. He said each participant paid
his own fare.
Vaughan reported for dure last
Monday. Newsweek said the presi
dent, looking severe, fished a pink-
ribboned package out of his desk
and center.

Bids Invited
Construction bids are being ra
nted for building a fire reservoir
and distribution system at Oregon
Caves national monument.
Bids for this work will be received,
to triplicate form, at Crater Lake
national park. Crater Lake, until
1 p. m. August 11, when they will be
publicly opened.

ing all labor and materials. Bid
