Anti-Smog Law
Asked In Portland
PORTLAND, July 20 T Mayor
Dorothy McCullough Lee of Port
land announced Tuesday she was
taking steps to keep smog from be
coming a problem here.
She proposed an ordinance to re
store the smoke-prevention commit
tee that operated before the war.
Mrs. Lee noted the city's growing
industrialization and commented
"the time to develop adequate
smoke-control is when plants are
being built, not afterward."
