Wheat Climbs Higher Today
CHICAQO. July 30 ii Wheat climbed higher on the board of
trade today, aided by trade report ol an increase in Hour business.
The bread cereal met only a small amount of hedging pressure as It
climbed upward. All contracts went above $3.00.
Biggest gains, however, wen made In soybeans. Spurting several
rents, all deterred bean contracts met new highs since trading In them
started.
Wheat closed l1.-! higher, July ga.OOS-'r. corn was lower to
J cent higher, July tl.43-l.41V oats were S-3H higher, July 66-66,
rye was lWt higher. July 11.55 V soybeans were 4-. higher. July
t3.65-366. and lard was 10 cents lower to IT cents a hundred pounds

Hudson Motor Car Company's
latest advances in high-compression
engine development are dis
cussed by Stuart C. Baits (center),
first vice president and assistant
general manager, with A. E. Barit
(left), Hudson president and G. R
Pratt (right), vice-president in
charge o sales, Hudson recently
revealed that the Hudson Super
Six and Super-Eight engines are in
reality high-compression engines
capable of providing the compres
sion ratios required to burn 100
octane gasoline and, in fact, up to
12.5 to 1 when super-high octane
fuels become available. Using to
day's standard gasoline of low
octane rating, Hudson s Super-Six
engine has a compression ratio of
7.12 to 1 with an aluminum head,
and the Super-Eight. 7 to 1. Adap
ted for higher compression and
using 100 octane fuel the highest
which the petroleum industry has
indicated that it might pcpduce
both engines will be supplied with
a compression ratio of approxi
mately 9.3 to 1. If fuels of higher
octane rating than 100 become
available, the requisite compres
sion will be provided. The ratio
of 9.3 to t with 100 octane fuel
has shown remarkable power in
creases, improved acceleration and
performance and greater economy.
