bill, sponsored by Representative
Pace (D-Oa.).
The Pace bill would let the admin
istration try out the "production
payment" plan in 1S50, but would
limit tha trial to three crops. The
secretary of agriculture would be
free to decide which three.

tions than does a compromise farm
protram brine developed by the sen

carry out the program.
Thomas bluntly told Brannan
early at the hearing there was no
chance for congressional approval
of Brannan a request to approve a
"trial run" of the Brannan plan on
rugs alone this year.

Next Week
Sight travel editors of metruult

Midwest will arrive In Oregon tins
Sunday in preparation for their tout
through the state next week.
The group la traveling on a tour
conducted by the Pacific Northwest
Travel association, of which Klam
ath County Chamber of Commerce
Manager Charlie Stark la vice pres
ident for Oregon.
Included In the group are such
outstanding travel editors as Rey
nolds C. Sells of the Chicago Dally
News.
They will arrive in Portland Sun
day, and there divide lino two
groups. One will take the coast route
southward through Oregon and re
turn through the Willamette valley.
The group will atop at Crater lake
while In Medford.
The other party M visit Crater
lake between Bend and Klamath,
and then head up to Eastern Ore
gon, continuing back to Portland via
the Columbia river gorge.
