Mr. and Mr. George Wood of
Klamath Falls spent a recent week
end here visiting at the home of
Mrs. Wood's parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Morehead.
The Fred Peters family accom
panied by young J. C. Morehead
made two auto trips during the
faller'a lay-off. They went to
Crater lake one day and to Dog
lake for one day.
Young Barrel! and Phillip Jam
ison were guests of their cousins.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam James and
sons, Jackie and Samniie, spent last
weekend visiting In and around
Med ford
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wlnfield drove
to Springfield two weeks ago for a
visit with Mrs. Winfields brother
and family, the Joe Langs. Wlnfield
returned to camp while bis wife and
two sons remained for a week. They
returned as far as Klamath Fails
- by bus, and Bobby Winfield re
mained In Springfield for the rest of
the summer to work, while little
Bug" Long came back with his
auntie to spend the rest of the sum
; mer In camp.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stringer and
children, Bobbie and Nancy, of
Camp 4 drove over to spend the
week-end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Thomson. While here
. they also visited with the 8. L.
' Henderson family.
The ladies of the Card ani
Luncheon club arranged a picnic
lor last Thursday instead of their
usual card session. They took the
children to the beaver dams on Mer
rill creek and enjoyed a nice picnic
lunch and wading. Those furnish
ing cars for the trip were Bessie
Morehead. Wanda Johnson, and
Wanna Leatherwood.
Mrs. Mary Johnson of Salem U
her visiting her son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson.
She may atay two weeka or more.
Mra. Art Johnson was called to
Klamath Falls Monday night be
cause of the serious Illness of her
son. Fred Fuller. He la better now,
and Is staying at the home of his
grandmother in the Falls, Mrs. Joe
Nanny.
Word haa been received her that
Oen Henderson, son of Mr. and
Mra. Walter Henderson of Oakridv
and formerly of here, haa enlisted
in the air force. He la stationed
at present at the air base at San
Antonio, Tex.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Brown spent
a week-end recently at Redding.

was Virgil's birthday and Father's
Day week-end. Late In the evening

with a birthday party for her
daughter, Janice, on her ninth
birthday Friday afternoon, June 34
at 3 p. m. at the family home south
east of Dairy.
Oemea were enjoyed, and Janice
received gtfu topped off with a
birthday cakt and lea cream.

western states. They visited Yel
lowstone National park. Denver, and
Salt Lake City, as well as various
spots in Montana, Idaho and Wash
ington.
Irma Liptak has completed her
second year at BOC In Ashland, and
la working for the summer months
at the Crater Lake Dairy store.
The annual Confraternity of
Christian Doctrine summer school
waa successfully concluded last Prt
day. School children from the first
to eighth grades attended, and
classes were held In the high school
building.
Mrs. Imogens Fox has returned
from a weeks vacation trip to
Couer d'Alrne. Idaho.
Sadie Butler of Minneapolis,
Minn, visited at the Harold Heud
rtckson home for a week. Miss But
ler came west for the silver wed
ding anniversary of the Hendrlck
sons. She Is a sister of Mrs. Hend
nckson. Mr. and Mrs. Riley DeLap. Larry
and Sally, have returned from a
two-week vacation trip. They at
tended a family reunion In Port
land at the home of Mrs. Pearl
DeLap. Riley's mother. While there
they visited the Jo Billys and the
Claude More lands, both former Mer
nil residents. From Portland, the
DrLaps went to Cannon Beach for
three days, and then stopped In
Sweet Home before returning to
Merrill.
The chicken dinner and party
sponsored by the VFW auxiliary
Saturday evening, June 18. was very
success! ul. One hundred and thirty
five were served at the dinner, and
approximately 160 was netted for
the auxiliary's treasury.
Cliff Shuck spent several days In
Grants Pass on business recently.
Mrs. John Fletcher of Santa Mon
ica. Calif, spent the day with Mia
O. W. Offield recently. Mrs. Fletch
er is visiting In Klamath Falls with
Mrs. Fred Fletcher Sr.
Frederick Fox arrived last week
from Washington. D. C, and will
spend the summer In Merrill with
his mother, Mrs. Imogene Fox. Fred
will return to complete his studies In
pre-medicin at the University of
Maryland In September. v
Mr. and Mra. Paul Arnett of
Crescent City, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Icenbice and family went to Kansas
City to attend a family reunion.
Dick Shuck of El Cerrttto. Calif.,
has been a visitor at the Cliff
Shuck home for the past week.

Present Play
On Wednesday
The religious plsy, "If the Light
Be Darkness" by Phyllis Brnbow
Beardsley, will be presented In the
Zlon Lutheran church, nth and
High, on Wednesday evening, be
ginning at S o'clock.
The play Is au adaptation to the
modern church of the old 11th cen
tury morality plays In which the
church becomes the selling for th
piesentatlnn. "If th Light Be
Darkness" was presented nine times
