Day's Swimming At Huge OTf Poo;
Instruction Schedule Shift Seen
A crowd of 850 Klamsth people turned out for the opening days
wlmmlng at Oregon Tech Monday, surpassing last summer biggest
day at th OTI plunge by a slreable margin.
Biggest day last year was 500 when only adult were permitted to
swim at th pool, since then, th city recreation department revampea
the pool, raising part of it floor nd blocking oft an end to that the
water Is hallow enough for safe swimming for children.
About 500 of th 8S0 total were youngsters who came In the after
noon for swimming lessons. The crowd of children was so large that
clasa schedules were thrown oil. An extra bus was pressed Into service
became one was not enough to carry children to the pool.
Particularly large was th number of 8 to 8-year-olds who turned
out for swimming Instruction.
City Recreation Director Sam 8mith tald that It will be necessary
to revise Instruction schedules to that all youngster can be accommo
dated. Parent are urged to check with their children upon their return
from the pool alnc each child will be given a slip noting any change
Of tchedule for hi particular class.
