TULELAKE. June 37 Motorists
who refused to yield to the siren
of the Tulelake ambulance Sunday
night when a critically injured man
w bring taken to a Klamath Falls
hospital caused two delay, accord
ing to L. C. Lonraneeker. ambulance
driver, and his assistant. Leslie
Thaler.
The ambulance was en route from
the scene of a fatal accident south
of Tulelake. Between Merrill and
Klamath Falls, the vehicle, being
driven with siren open and red
light on. was forced to stop twice
when drivers failed to pull to the
aide of the highway a the ambu
lance met passing car.
Longanecker, recently of Iowa, has
taken over operation of the city am
bulance and Is on duty 34 hours
nay. Ambulance calls may be placed
at 301B, Tulelake.

Two elderly Weyerhaeuser woods
employe were Jailed early this
morning by state police on a charge
of Illegal possession of deer meat,
and a freshly-killed doe was con
fiscated. The two men, James Torrence
Lowther, 62, and William Howard
Johnson. 7s, pleaded not guilty to
the charge In Justice court, and
their bail was set at 1200 each.
State police said they were lo
cated In a cabin on the Shelby
ranch near Beany early hi morn
ing, and the carcass of the deer
was on the cabin floor.

council. She has also handled va

Henry Oerber. owner of the Oer
ber ranch which was hit by a fir
at tha ranch house south of Illy
Saturday, was In town toduy making
plans to re-build.
Oerber said that hp will start
construction liuniolialely of a build
ing to replace the pioneer much
house which burned to the ground.

house at Oerber reservoir will func

Salem couple recovered here today
from a narrow brush with deaUi in
a plane crash near Nrlart.
The light plane of Oeorge Oliver
King, 40. and his wife. Sarah Gladys
King, 35. was cruising over Netarts
bay when the engine failed. The
plane plummeted toward earth, and
King tried to fight It into a glide.
It side-slipped onto the mud flats,
skidded and bounced 300 feet,
throwing off parts as it went.
Walter Herd. Tillamook filer,
landed twice near the scene to bring
the Kings here, one at a time. They
were hospitalised: King with a nose
fracture, a sprained hip and cuts;
Mrs. King with a skull fracture,
bark Injuries and cuts.
The Kings, who came to Oregon
recently from Indiana, had left
Salem In mld-mornlng for their
usual Sunday air Jaunt. King was
the pilot. He Is employed at Salem
a an electrician.
