Soroptimists Meet
Thursday At Noon
The Boroptlmlst club of Klamath Falls hold a regular monthly
busliiew meeting Thursday noon at the Pelican cale with President
Thelmr. . niiry presiding.
. Susanna Hamilton read bulletin from the federation headquarters
asking the club not to send any more packages of used clothing or
food to Europe until further notice. Dr. M. M. Oarot, president of
the European Federation advises that, "The duty Is now so heavy that
the shipment which were so vital and helpful two years ago now
present a great financial problem.

Thelma Henry announced that
Esther Lawler had Just returned
from Portland where she was elect
ed president of district No. 2 of
the Society for Crippled Children
and Adults. The club feels doubly
honored because this Is one of the
projects which it sponsors, Mrs.
Lawler said that Klamath county

good chance of being the highest

Club mcmbeni endorsed and
signed the petition prepared by the
AssoclaUsd Women of the Klamath
County Farm bureau to establish
and maintain a public waiting room.
The nominating committee pre
sented the following names which
were unanimously elected by mem
bers to hold office for the next fiscal
year beginning on July 1: Doris
Peyton, president; Esther Lawler,
first vice president; Olive Cornett,
second vice president; Pauline Oil
more, recording secretary; Phyllis
Slater, corresponding secretary;
Vivian Owens, treasurer, and Be a
Bell, Isabel Brtxner and Thelma
Henry, directors. The installation
of these newly elected officers will
take place in June.

The wedding will be. an event of
3 ;30 o'clock the afternoon of Thurs
day. May 20. in St Augustine
church, Merrill. A reception and
dinner will follow the ceremony at
El Rancno In Tulelake. .

April Bride
Joyce Thomas, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Thomas of this
city, became the bride of Robert
Callagan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Callagan. also of Klamath Falls. In
a ceremony read April 16 at the
Community Congregational church.
The two exchanged vows at 8
o'clock in the evening. Rev. Godfrey
Matthews read the rites.
For her wedding Miss Thomas
wore a suit of aqua with a corsage
of camelias pinned at the shoulder.
Maid of honor was Bessie Merry
more and best man was Dale Wat
son. Tapers and bouquets of spring
flowers decked the altar. Immediate
relatives and friends of the couple
attended.
The reception was held In the
community hall following the wed
ding. Mrs. Ella Smith and Jean
Thomas served the wedding cake,
and Mrs. Donna Scott poured.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Callagan
will leave soon for a wedding trip
and then go to Eureka. Calif., to
make their home.
Young Couples
A Mariners club for young mar
ried couples is being organized at
Peace Memorial Presbvterian
church. One meeting has been held
at which 11 couples gathered for
dinner and to plan for organization.
An interesting program was giv
en, including an address on The
Atom Bomb and Use for Peace'
time, by Arnold CralaDD.
