The town wos in o flutter this week with the three
cloy session of the 35th convention of the Oregon Con
gress of Parents and Teachers. It wos our privilege to
work with two Portland newspaperwomen, Freda Mow
rey of The Oregonion, and Elinor Pillsbury of The
Journal, sent here by their respective bosses to cover the
session.
Both are well known in Oregon, working nicely to
gether, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy Klamath Foils.
If was too bod we couldn't do something about the
wcother and give convention delegates a little of our
famous sunshine, but Old Mon Winter has been as
tenacious as a rebuffed lover, and he sat it out the
whole time.
We didn't have time to comment on two points con
cerning the Wednesday night banquet at OVS where,
seems such a short time ago, marines filled the big
mess hall with their clatter of metal cups and trays.
Andy Loney's a coppella choir brought a standing ova
tion as they sang and sang. Around us were women from
all over the state and could Andy or the youngsters have
heard the praise, they would blush with pride. We did!
And then the matter of decorations. "The World
At Our Doorstep," theme of the convention, was used
with little dolls dressed In clothes of all notions, inter
spersed with miniature globes. Mrs. Arthur Reinhart,
with members of her committee from Roosevelt school,
had charge of this phase of the convention and came in
for a great many compliments. Mothers wore busy put
ting the figures in their purses to take home to theii
own youngsters.
Coing and coming: Dr. and Mrs. Leslie W. Peate
tent us a (umbo picture postcard from Sun Valley, Ida.,
where they are attending a session this week. Les is sit
ting in on the Northwest conference in dental medicine.
Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Currin back Sunday from Victoria,

American Urological association of which Hugh was re
cently made a member.

It's really worth a buzz around the block on Sunday
morning, watching all the harried fathers dashing the
youngsters to Sunday school, some with upturned col
lars hiding pajama coats, others dressed for a day's gar
dening, golf or church.
We don't know the percentage of young people who
ore enrolled in everything from "cradle roll" to the
young ladies' class but about 9:30 every Sunday morn
ing there is a heavy run of traffic right down Main street
and going to both sides where Klamath churches ara
holding forth.
It would do your heart good to see all the starched
skirts and be-ribboned bonnets, and scrubbed little boys
with their hair in place for this once-a-week occasion.
Doesn't seem like the world is so bad on Sunday morn
ings. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest M. Bubb have just returned
from a jaunt up north where they saw a number of for
mer Klamath folks. They went first to Newport to visit
Mrs. Bubb's brother, Dr. Paul M. Noel, who is now
practicing dentistry in the Oregon coast town. Mr. Bubb
came on home but she stayed on in Portland and saw
the F. E. Drake family, the Louis K. Porters, Hazel and
Roy Orem and others. While at dinner they ran onto
the J. Fred Flocks, now of Eugene, and also Mrs. Karl
C. Cummings, who has been north visiting daughter
Margaret, (Mrs. Dick Reeves), at Lebanon. Mrs. Cum
mings will stay on in the valley for a week.
Mrs. Bubb reports that Warren H. Porter is now on
the commercial art staff of Pacific National Advertising
Agency in Portland. Louis K. Jr., is the proud poppa of
two children and also makes his home in Portland.
Disappointed, that's what the Bubbs are. They ex
. pected visits from their daughters and families but things
have been postponed. Lt. and Mrs. Robert David Payne)
(Virginia Bubb), and two young daughters, Tyana and
Nyna, were due to leave their home at Mlddletown, Pa.,
