will continue until June 30.
Each present member Is to obtain
as many addltlonnl paid up mem
bers as possible and for each new
member he obUilns, one point Is to
be given him. To qualify for the
dinner which Is planned In cele
bration of the winners a member
must have three points.
A benn dinner will be served to
the losers of the contest while the
winners will dine on chicken or ham.
Three prlws will be awarded lo
those who have received the lnrRest
number of points. First prize Is a
gold VFW ring; second prize, i
silver VFW ring, and a polished wal
nut wall plaque will be given as
third prize.
Any member with five points will
receive a gold enameled VFW but
ton and a miniature horse collar.

Vote Set Friday
PORTLAND, April 28 (IV-Portland
Traction company employes
will take a strike vote Friday.
Alex JJaln, business agent for the
AKL drivers and mechanics said if
the strike Is approved, It will be
called at 12:01 a. m. May 17 unless a
wage agreement Is reached with the
company earlier.
The union has asked a 25-cent
hourly Increase. The company's of
fers ave been contingent on getting
a fare Increase denied by the city
council and Bain said "we cannot
take any such offers back to our
members."
Present scales range from $1.40
for drivers to $1.85 for mechanics.
Negotiations have been under way
since January.
