OVS has received 110 steel fold
ing chairs and has been allocated
a jeep from the federal works
agency In Seattle. Wash. The Jeep
will be for instructional use in the
auto mechanics class.

Klamath chapter and three from the
Medford chapter of the Disabled
American veterans were at OVS to

commander Wednesday.

Rebel Forces Hit
At San Jose
By The Associated Press
Reports reaching Guatemala Wed
nesday Indicated rebel forces have
isolated San Jose. Costa Rica's cap-
, ital. The end of the six-week-old
civil war appeared to be nearing,
with a rebel victory In sight.
Government forces were reported
to be drawing In for a last ditch
stand In the capital if the truce
offered by the rebels falls through.
Dispatches to Guatemala said the
rebels cut San Jose's communica
tions with Punta Arenas, a prin
cipal port, and wrecked a train on
the line from the capital to the port.
Astoria Gets

Norblad said the mooring basin
will accommodate those ships now
at Astoria In the Columbia river and
those at Olympla, Wash., in Puget
' und. He said $2,500,000 will be
spent by the commission In dredging
and for piers and that 350 men will
be employed there permanently.
The commission, he said, has
asked the navy tor a large drydock
for use at the mooring basin.

met Thursday at the home of Mrs.
Henry Milligan with 19 present.
A short business meeting was
held with Mrs. Fred Mllanl pre
siding. Games were played and a
Dutch auction was held with Mrs.
Milligan receiving the object of
the sale. Refreshments were served
by the hostess. Those present were

and Linda. Mrs. Fred Milan!. Mrs.
Cliff Andrieu, Mrs. Leon Andrieu,
Silvia. Ruth and David. Mrs. Clive

at the Grange hall Friday night
with friends from miles arbund.
Musio was enjoyed and dancing
was the theme of the evening.

staying in Klamath Falls with her
daughter, Mrs. Paul Fiuhugh. and
her new grandson.

New Navigation
Aid Installed
SEATTLE. April 15 WV-A new
type navigation aid, which throws
out three colors deluding upon
the angle from which It Is viewed,
has been Installed in the Umpqua
river near Reedsport. Ore.. Rear
Adm. J. E. Stika. commander of
the 13th const guard district, said
today. ,
It Is known as a "polychrome
range light.'' The colors are fil
tered out as green, white or red
depending upon the position of
the approaching vessel.

Quits CIO Council
SEATTLE, April 15 17 The Beat
tie Newspaper Guild has joined the
parade of Congress of Industrial
Organization unions withdrawing
from the state CIO council.
Members voted Tuesday to stop
per capita payment to the state
council and to send delegates to an
Aberdeen convention May 1 and 2.
The Grays Harbor meeting was
called by the District 3 council of
the International Woodworkers of
America (CIO) for the purpose of
forming a new organization to apply
for the national CIO charter.
The dispute centers about refusal
of the state council to follow In
structions of the international.
House Overrides
Veto On Vendors
WASHINGTON, April 15 fJV-The
house Wednesday passed over Presi
dent Truman's veto a bill excluding
certain vendors of newspapers and
magazines from the social security
program,
The vote was 307 to 28. This was
83 more than the required two
thirds majority.
The senate will vote next, prob
ably later In the week, on whether
to override the veto.
Rep. Oearhart (R.-Calif.), author
of the bill, predicted the senate
will Join the house In voting to over
ride. Mr. Truman sent the legislation
back to congress on April 6.
