Show Slated
The Junior Grand National, an
nual livestock classic for Western
youth, will be held In San Fran
cisco's huge Cow Palace March 20
to 25.
It Is expected to attract around
1000 FFA and 4-H club boys and
girls with 2500 head of livestock.
The six daya of livestock exhibition,
Judging, auction sale and a spec
tacular Centennial arena pageant
are expected to attract 50,000 urban
dweller to the exposition.
Sheep shearing will be a full
scale contest thl year, sponsored
by the California Wool Growers' as
sociation and will be open to all
youngster exhibiting livestock. This
contest Is scheduled dally just be
fore the pageant. An electric sheep
shearing outfit will be awarded to
both the FFA and 4-H club cham
pion.

School Tax Vote
PORTLAND. March t iPt Two
school tax levy measures will be on
the ballot for Portland voters at the
primary election May 21.
The school board decided last
night to submit to voter a proposed
J 1.700,000 special levy for main
tenance arid operation of the schools.
A week earlier they decided to put
on the ballot a proposed 10-year levy
of $2,500,000 for construction nd
repair of buildings.

how many European displaced per
mm Oregon could support.
The committee will ask church,
farm, labor and women's oritaniza
tlons how many refuxeea they could
house and find Jobs for. Result of
the survey will be aent to Oregon
representatives in congress.
The governor said "We have to
take care of our own people first,"
adding that the state's own economy
must be considered. He said It
wouldn't be right to have refugees
take Jobs away from Oregon resident.
Father Alculn Hcibel, Portland,
who called on the governor, said
congress will do nothing about the
displaced persons in Europe unless
Americans make it known they have
Jobs and housing for thousands of
refugees.
V. Linkenbach
Dies At 86
William Linkenbach. 86-year-old
former Klamath Palls resident, but
for the last 12 years making his
home at Sumner, near Coos Bay,
Ore., died suddenly shortly after
dinner last night, according to word
received here. Mr, Linkenbach haa
been residing with a daughter, Mrs.
Walter Phillips of Sumner.
Final rite will be held Monday
at 1:30 p. m. from the Whltlock
chapel with Interment In Klamath
Memorial park. Mr. Linkenbach
was born July 9. 1862, In Lawrence
burg, Ind. His father was a veteran
of the Civil War. The Linkenbach
came here in 1907 from Los Angeles
and Mr. Linkenbach followed the
carpentry trade. He built many
home In this section and handled
much of the interior work of the
Pelican theatre. Mrs. Linkenbach
preceded her husband In death 25
years ago. Survivors Include two
sons, Jack and Eugene of this city
and one daughter, Mrs. Phillip of
Bumner. There i one grandchild
