Weakness Prevails In Wheat
CHICAOO. Jan. 31 Weakness continued to predominate In
grain futures piU today, although there were occasional rallies from
the low points. "
Wheat was off around 3 cents at times on selling apparently ln
sDlred by trade disappointment over delay In announcement of March
export allocations, and further beneficial snow In the winter wheat belt.
Corn fell with wheat, but some buying was Inspired by reports
distillers might enter the market for supplies shortly, since many are
expected to Increase operations next week.
Distant deliveries of wheat and corn turned further upward near
the close, but the nearby contracts continued weak.

Stocks
faltering
NEW YORK, Jan. 31 OP) It was
a case of quiet selectivity in today's
stock market with Individual favor
ites exhibiting a certain amount of
strength while many leaders con
tinued to falter.
The ticker tape loafed from the
start. While there were a few gains
of as much as a point, both declines
and advances, on the whole, held
to minor fractions near the close.
Numerous plvotals were unchanged.
Transfers for the two hours ran to
about 300,000 shares.
Timid bidding was based partly on
the Idea that the recent technical
correction of the drop to average
lows since last June could be ex-j
tended.
Bonds were narrow and commodi
ties lower.
