Airport Rates
Lowered
Lowered airport rates, retroactive
to January I. l4i. were announced
Thursdar by Mayor Ostendorf. Prin
cipal chain rs in rates from the old I

for operators of flying schools.

1200 for an operator's licence.
The rate for United Air Unee for

Mrs. Margaret Brown on December

Margaret Brown. Mabel Winfteld
received high score and Anne James
took low with Oertrude Good re
ceiving pinochle.
The Camp store changed hands
' the last of December. It was bought
from Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Clapp by
Mr. and Mrs. H. 8. Bridge who took
over December 29. Mr. and Mrs.
Clapp hsve moved to BIT.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brown hsve ,
moved Into the hou left vacant
when the Bridges moved to the liv
ing quarters behind the store.
Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Collier hsve
moved to camp from Bly. They have
the cabin occupied by Ous Hall last
summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Chandler and
children are now living in the cabin

Mr. and Mrs. FTed Peters are to
' be congratulated on the birth of a
fine baby boy at Klamath Valley
hospital December 18. The young
man has been named Steven Lloyd.
Mr. and Mrs. Folk Haddock and
I family are new residents In camp.
They moved here from Chlloquin
Just before Christmas. They are llv-

by J. W. O'Bannlon.

Raymond wss reared by his grand
mother, Mrs. James A. Brown of
Tulrlake. His mother died a num
ber of years ago in Nevada.
Raymond served with the United
Stales army paratroopers and was
discharged November 6, 1W7. He
I was working In the Tulelake area
and had made plans to enter col-
lege tins fall. Three days so he
complained of feeling 111. but the
paralysis was not observed unul
j sometime yesterday.
In addition to his grandmother
and sister, Mrs. Pitta. Raymond is
survived by three other sisters,
Helen and Beverley Rice of Pallon,
Ne, and Peggy Crotolo of Austin,
Nev.
Final rites will be held at 1:30
p. m. Monday at the Community
Presbyterian church In Tulelake
with the Rev. Hugh Branson of
ficiating. Interment will take place
in the family plot of I OOP cem
etery, Merrill.
Minor Accident
Injures One
An Intersection collision on the
Merrill highway early Thursday af
ternoon wrecked both cars Involved
and caused minor Injury to one oc
cupant. State polios investigated and said
a coupe headed toward Merrill and
operated by Leroy Manley of Philo
math. Ore., was struck by a sedan
operated by W. H. Rice. 304 Rogers,
when Rice entered the highway
from a side road.
Mrs. Manley suffered a wrist
bruise.

AAA Officials
Hold Meeting
An all-day meeting of AAA state
heads and count,v and community
committeemen was held this week
In the post office building to deter
mine what practices should be kept
on the new reduced budget.
The 1948 budget for AAA has
been reduced from $305,000 to $65.-
ow, making it necessary to cut!

fit the finances, Harvey Miller,
chairman of the state AAA com
mittee, and Arnold Bodtker and
Dick Pratt, state field men. were
present from Salem.
Among practices voted to be kept
were weed control, drainage, soil
building and certain range practices.
Burrell Short's committee will
work up the 1948 handbook, which
will Include practices to be followed.
Suffocation Said
Double Death Cause
ANCHORAGE. Alaska. Jan. 16 OP)
Laboratory analysis of the organs
of two Alaska men, whose New
Year's Day deaths remain a mys
tery. Indicated a possibility that
they may have suffocated. Clinton
Stein. FBI agent In charge here,
said today.
Stein said the analysis, made by
the FBI laboratories In Washington,
D. C revealed the presence of con
siderable carbon monoxide In the
blood. Alcohol In sufficient quanti
ties to cause coma also was found,
he said.
The two men. Harold W. Ortlten.
45, and Martin Emestus, 43, were
found In the Ernestus home at Dil
lingham along with Mrs. Griffen.
who had a dislocated wrist and
cheek abrasions. The discovery was
made by a woman acquaintance of
Emestus.
