On Thursday afternoon, January I. the newly-reomanlmt circles
of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the first MethodiM
church met to elect officers. Mrs. L. K. Phelps of 1957 Auburn was
hostess to Ruth circle, and Mrs. John Yadon led the opening devo
tional service. Mrs. (Jennie Casper acted as chairman pro tent and
called for nominations. Elected to serve were Mrs. D. R. Stebulns, chair
man; Mrs. Casper, vice chairman; Mrs. W. A. Carlcton, treasurer, and
Mrs. Wesley McKalg. secretary.
It was decided to have s program at each circle meeting and the
""C"" chairman will be Mrs.
I Glenn Kent, assisted by Mrs. E. L.
Putnam and Mrs. William Wnles
Jr. At the general meeting in the
church parlors on January 23, Ruth
circle will serve tea following the
business session and program.
Esther circle met with Mrs. C. H.
Barnstable of 123 High, and she was
assisted by Mrs. Chester Saunders
and Mrs. Bert Hegler. Mrs. Murk
Taylor, outgoing chairman, led the
devotions and acted as chairman
pro tem until the new officers were
elected. They are Mrs. Dexter El
liott, chairman, Mrs. Earl Redman,
vice chairman, Mrs. J. G. Bramhall,
treasurer, and Mrs. Mark Taylor,
secretary. '

Board Meeting
A board meeting of the Oregon
Federation of Women's clubs has
been called by its president, Mrs.
William B. Chandlee of Hlllsboro,
for Friday, January 16, in the club
house of the Portland Women's
club.
The meeting will be the last one
for the board before the general
federation meets in Portland for its
annual convention in May. Final
convention plans will be drawn at
the Friday meeting. The executive
board meets January IS, the day
before the regular boa I'd meeting.
' A luncheon will be held at the
Multnomah hotel at 12:30 with pub
lic relations executives of radio sta
tions, newspapers and department
tores invited. The purpose of the
meeting is to inform these repre
sentatives of the approaching con
yention and to solicit their assist
ance. President

' After a short business meeting,
refreshments were served. The tea
table was attractively set with white
chrysanthemums and white tapers.
The remainder of the afternoon
was spent playing bridge. High score
went to Mrs. Orva Beard, second
to Mrs. Will Wood, and the special
prize was received by Mrs. Leo N.
Huls.

Birthday
, Dorothy Adams was honored on
her birthday Sunday with a party

Adams, and Mrs. Arthur Wiley, at

Jnont. , The occasion was Dorothy's 11th
birthday and there were 12 guests.
' The guests were Shirley, Clifford
and Bonnie Hayes; Betty Williams,
Gilbert, Jerry, Bobby and Janice
Schatz; Phyllis and Alda May Karl,
and Donald and Ruth Adams.
