versary of a strike against eight red
wood manufacturing companies that
those firms are employing more men
and producing more lumber than
before the walkout.
The statement said the strike by
Ihe AFL lumber and sawmill work
ers' union against eight leading red
wood companies "Is believed to con
stitute a record for the duration of
a labor dispute for any major In
dustry In the country."
It said the last negotiations took
place In March. 1947 and that the
only remaining Issue Is the opera
tors' refusal to grant a union shop.
