GOOD DEMAND UPS GRAINS
CHICAOO, Jan. 6 M A good demand for cash corn caused rise
In yellow grain futures on the board of trade today. Some buying also
wu traced to Eastern houses as corn, overcoming early losses, led an
advance In grains carrying prices above last Saturday's close.
Soybeans rose to a new record high when the March contract, up a
cent, sold at 4.I2',4. In the spot market the same price was paid for
beans grading No. 4 yellow.
All grains had declined In early dealings. May .wheat slumping to
the lowest level since November 17. Commission houses sold and a
small amount of hedging appeared. However, snles of cash wheat to
grain dealers in Kansas City was reported not as large as last week.
With trading becoming very active, grains spurted to new highs in
the closing minutes and ended just about at the day's tops.
Wheat finished 3'1-4'i higher. May S2.93-2.931., com was 2', to S
cents higher. May $2.56'. -2.55".. on Is were 1',-1'x higher, Mny J1.19V
and soybeans were 1 to 3'j cents higher, March $4.13'i.
