Bobby Volk of Portland here lost night. The bout was billed for th
Pacific coast middleweight championship and was considered the cl)
test for Snapp.
The boys felt each other out for only one heat, then went slamming
into 14 rounds of fast, hard-punching action.
Snapp went down for no count In the seventh. In the ninth a left
hook to the face floored him for nine and he came back to get another
pair of facial punches that again a
had him down for nine.
Snapp was In bad shape at thr
bell, but he recuperated In the 10th
frame.
That was the end of Volk's bid,
hrwever, and the Merrill middle
weight had him reeling uncertainly
around the ring in the 13th and
again in the 15th.
Volk didn't leave his feet, but four
of the last six rounds were accord
ed to Snapp by all officials.
