Phone Calls

Oh of the telephone calls, which
police said they Believed were
made by "cranks," was made to the
Brlcker home In tetnrbaii Upper
Arlington a few hours before the
senator was to take part In a
statewide dinner honoring Senator
Robert A. Taft R-Ohie). The eaU
was taken by the senator's mother-in-law,
Mrs. Maud A. Day, who
reported that the caller said:
"This time we're total to get
him."
Fired Upon
Three weeks ago Benator Brlcker
was fired upon in Washington by
former capitol policeman.
The other ..telephone call was
made to Brlcker1! law office In the
downtown Leveque-Ltncoln Towers
office building.
A squad of detectives surrounded
Brlcker as he appeared at the nefl
house for the dinner last Bight and
at' the conclusion, he was escorted
out a rear doer by the officers.
A thorough search also was made
of the grounds of the Brlcker resi
dence in Tremont road In Upper
Arlington.
Brlcker did not appear unnerved
by the telephone calls, persons who
attended the dinner reported. Be
sat near the speaker's platform at
a - table, and Introduced Benator
Taft before the litter's address.
Reservation In Spotlight

As July leaves are pulled off cal
endars, August already boasts of sev
eral events of wide public Interest in
the Klamath country, headed by the
Indian reservation liquidation hear
ing, slated for the 12nd of this
month.
The Klamath Indians, officially
on record as opposing senate bill
1333 dealing with liquidation of the
reservation, will present their case
at public hearings slated to be held
at the council hall at Klamath
Agency August before a sen
ate investigating commute. The plan
would dissolve the reservation, grant-

Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Holland of

bead-on collision In front of the
Chemult cafe on highway 97 July
27. Mrs. Holland received arm and
leg injuries, and Holland a knee

on the reservation. The Klamath In
dian tribal council voted Thursday,
okaying sale of the timber atand.
Ivory Pine company of Klamath
Falls has expressed its Interest In
the timber since It Is cutting in a
neighboring stand, and has an access
road already built to the salable
area.
Remodeling and repair work In
city and county schools will hit Its
summer stride this month, as the
school buildings are readied for the
fall term to begin early In Septem
ber. On August 22, the city-span
sored playgrounds and swimming
program at Klamath Union high
school will close tor the summer.
Christmas is a long way off, but
on August 23, bids for Christmas
tree cutting in the Rogue River na
tlonal forest will be opened at Med'
ford. An estimated 40.000 Shasta red
fir tree or silver tips In several areas
are up for bidding.
Hearings on Southwest Airways
proposed feeder service between
Klamath Falls, Alturas, Portals and
Reno was postponed this week from
August 35 to September (. Hearings
will be before the civil aeronautics
board In San Francisco.
Young Couple
On Long Trip

2500 mile trip to college by bicycle.
Richard Revenaugh, 33, and his
wife. Terry, 31, hope to pedal the
distance to Eugene, Oregon, where
they plan to enter the University of
Oregon.
First leg of the journey will take
the two former students of Adrian
college in Michigan to Calumet in
the upper peninsula, thence up
through Canada and westward.

To Retire

district army engineers. Richard W.
Williams retired Thursday.
More than 350 employee of the
district honored him at a luncheon
at which CoL a E. Walsh lauded
his work.
Born at Salem January 32. 1878.
he was graduated from Willamette
university in 1898 and the next year
became a recorder for an army en
gineers' surveying party- Since then
he has aided in numerous surveys.

Dies In Wreck

Mrs. Georgia Voslon, M. of Lincoln,
Calif., died at 7:30 . in Wednes
day as a result of injuries received

Horn, driver of the car which struck
the cur In which Mrs. Voslon was
riding, haa been charged with In
voluntary manslaughter by the Cali
fornia highway patrol. Horn, 42. Is

The accident occurred when Horn,
driving on the left side of the road,
