minute broadcast to be given by
Sgt. Henry O. Morrison over radio
station KFLW at 1 p. m, Friday,
honoring the occasion.

air show Sunday with the Lakeland
Flying service's Scabce were cut
short by an emergency rail for the
amphibious plane to pick up a pa
tient at Four-Mile lake, WOO feet
high In the Cascades.

on the water of Four-Mile Just 40
minutes after the call was received.
Bright clear weather at Lakevlew
was soon left behind and Payne
flew the ambulance plane tn under
lowering skies and a drenching
downpour.

while on the Sheriff's posse Skyline
trail ride, was soon comfortably
settled In the plane's bed and flown
to Klamath Falls where an ambu
lance was waiting at the airport.

hicles, and delivering emergency

today by Tim Moor. Moor, has a
contract with local markets to fly
fish freah from the nets at Crescent
City and Is having his Falrchlld

Clark Hits
Rates Again
WASHINGTON. July 31 OP At
torney General Clark In a new com
plaint today accused more than 900
railroads of collecting "unjust and
unreasonable" rates on wartime
shipments of steel airplane landing
mats.
The action was filed with the
Interstate commerce commission.
The government Is asking repar
ations for alleged overcharges on
the landing mats moved from east
ern shipping points to Pacific coast
porta between January 1, 1942 and
June 30. 1946.
The Justice department announce
ment said "thousands of carloads"
of landing mats were Involved. The
petition to ICC .states the exact
amount of money sought to be re
covered is "not presently ascertain
able." The 'complaint Is another In a
scries which Clark has made before
the ICC concerning wartime freight
charges.
