There followed a rouud-the-tuble
endorsement by all Hie couucllmen
of the pension plan, but they were
all of the belief It would be pre
mature to present the pension plan
at the apeclal election In view of
the fact It had been defeated twice
before. The discussion wa finally
ended by a compromise proposal
that a thorough study of tin plan
be made and presented to the coun
cil at some future dale, the general
feeling being the plan would have a
better chance In Uie spring election
of IS48.
An amusing sidelight of the meet
ing waa a discussion on proposed
lighting for the Klamath armory.
Condrey asked for council action on
the matter, which called for flood
light to be placed on the Spring
street aide of the armory a a means
of preventing vandalism on nights
when dance are held.
Councilman Angus Newton sug
gested Uiat aa long as the matter
was before the council, why not con
sider putting floodlight also In the
back of Uie armory a It was his

fect on the outcome of Uie discus

the matter until a report could be
obtained from the armory commit,

curred by a remark from Newton to
K. A. Thomas, the city engineer.
Nswton asked If Thomas had ob
served a certain rock formation at
the top of North Slxtli street, and
asked If It couldn't be removed.
Thomas replied that ha had been
looking at It for 30 years. When the
laughter had subsided, Thomas
agreed to look Into the matter to

Two matters swiftly disponed of
were a request by the stale unem
ployment compensation commission

granted space to the commission for

It also passed a motion limiting
parking to the east aide of Conger

were approved by the council hist
night for the period from July 21 to
July 20. There waa a total of 13
permit Issued, only one of which
waa for a new residence. The new
residence application wo made by
Archie L. field, who will build a
house at 408 Adum to cost 15500.
Two remodeling Jobs amounting
to 14000 were Included In the ap
plication. These were a request
by C. C. Praley for permission to
move a residence at 131 2nd from
the back to the front of the lot.
