The Ewauna Box company start
ed summer operations In the Fish
hole area of the Bly ranger district
last week. It Is expected that they
will start hauling logs next week.
Lyle Forgy has moved to the scaler
cabin and will do the marking and
scaling on the Ewauna cutting for
the forest service.
The Horsefly Cattle association
will finish the roundup and brand
ing at Orlana corrals this week.
They are moving the cattle from
greflng district No. 1 to the summer
range on the Bly ranger district.
Kenneth Carlson, who was the
forest lookout on Lookout rock last
summer Is moving to Keno springs
guard station, south of Yainax
butte today. Adolph Foster will be
at Keno rprtngs this season, too.
David . Marshall, who was on
Horsefly lookout last season Is mov
ing to Flshhole lookout this week.
There Is no telephone line to Fish
hole so David will have one of the
new frequency modulated radios. -
The Bly ranger district suu needs
a good man with a car for the Look
out rock position.
Donald Steele, who has worked
In the suppression crew at Bly the
past three years, Is moving to the
Barnes valley fire station this week.
The Bly Boy Scout troop held
Its monthly board of review Friday
night at the Bly ranger station.

The Bly ranger district roads,
trails and telephone line mainte
nance work was completed last
week. Even though the past winter
was quite mild and the snowfall
was light, there was still a large
amount of windfalls and other re
pair work to do on the roads and
trails and phone lines.
The following Boy Scouts have
signed up to go to Camp Makualla
at Crescent lake the week of July
37 to August 3: Lloyd Moorehead,
Charles Dishno. Robert Winfield
Jr., Harold Winfield. Dean Schoen
berg, Herbert Armstrong, Leigh
Taylor, Gene Larson. Dickie
Schroth and David Stockner.
The Scouts made J13.70 selling
pop at the baseball game Sunday.
The money earned is used to buy
food and camping equipment for
the troop.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCain re
turned from Logan, Kan., where
they-have been visiting friends and
relatives the past month. Their son.
Warren, met them there. He is a
student In an electrical engineering
school In Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Cavan were
in Tulelake Tuesday. Danny and
Sheila remained for a visit with
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Dugan.
Loye Smith of Klamath Falls vis
ited at the home of her brother,
Chester Smith, over the week-end.
The Bly baseball team played the
Klamath Junior Sons Sunday. The
score was Bly S, Klamath Falls S.
Bly'a next game will be Sunday at
Canby, Calif.
Nena Ray Bolunan of Klamath
Falls Is visiting her cousins. Jimmie
Tlkkanon and Johnny Staubs, this
week.

Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shuck spent
Sunday with Mrs. Maude Liskey at
her summer home at Lake o' the
Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Steele have
returned home from Portland, where
Steele has been receiving medical
attention.
The Thursday Evening Bridge
club met at the home of Mrs. Riley
DeLap. Those present were Mrs.
M. A. Bowman, Mrs. Lester Van
Cleave, Mrs. John Degnan. Mrs.
Everett Jones, Mrs. Jerry Sharp.

were guests. High prize was won
by Mrs. Bowman, second, Mrs.
DeLap, and traveling prise, Mrs.
Bowman.
Mr. Qlnn, who has been visiting
with his daughter, Mrs. Oeorge El
liott, Is quite 111 at her home here.
Mrs. Francis Provost and children
of Portland, are visiting for a week
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mar
tin Tighe.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Davis will leave
July 35 for Couer d' Alene. Ids.,
where they will attend the police
men's convention. Davis la chief of
police here. They plan to enter the
pistol shooting contest. Mrs. Davis
won it last year. They will return
home by way of Portland and coast
points. Bob Wilson will be In charge
lor the two-week period of Davis'
absence. ,
Newcomers to Merrill are Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Deadwiley from Guthrie,
Okla., who are employed by the
Southern Pacific. Mrs. Deadwiley is
a sister of Mrs. Ed Davis.

4th of July In Klamath Falls. They
attended the parade, later going to
Fall creek and Jenny creek to visit
the Fred Fralns and Rod Frain.
Mr. and Mrs. Fran Mares and
son, John, stopped Sunday morning
en route to their home In Portland.
They spent -the 4th with Mrs.
Mares' mother, at Dorrls and visit
ed her brother. T. O. Clemmens,
here, continuing their trip north
via Crater lake. The Clemmens ac
companied them to Crater lake
where all enjoyed a picnic.
Mr. and Mrs. Oeorge Dow and
sons spent several days on a fishing
trip at Dairy creek, returning home
Sunday.
John Kerns has been hauling hay
this week.
Melvtn Douglas Is cutting and
baling hay at the W. L. Frain
ranch.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Frain visited
here Wednesday returning to their
home In Fall creek the same day.
Other visitors were Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Poole and Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Cofer, all of Klamath Falls.
Word has been received that Roy
Powell Is soon to return from Alas
ka. His son had a serious accident
with fire crackers injuring his eye
before the 4th of July.

ing day Friday: Helping them were
