condition of Benny Cleveland. 21-year-old
Los Angeles bantamweight
boxer who collapsed after losing a
four-round preliminary bout at
Hollvwood Legion stadium last
r.ieht. was reported "very precari
ous" today following a brain opera
tion. The boxer's physician said he
suffered a hemorrhage of the brain.
Cleveland. 118'-.-. fighting his
second pro bout, lost a decision to
Bob Adime. 117'i. Los Angeles.
He fought a good battle against
Adame and was on his feet at the
end. In the dressing room he com
olnined of feeling ill and 10 minutes
later fell into a coma. Ringsiders
said Cleveland did not appear to
have taken a severe beating al
though he was down for no counts
twice in the first round.

Cougar golf team. For the past few
weeks he has been turning in some
around-par cards out at Reames
country club. He went to the
National Junior tourney last year
when it wa held at the Indian
Canyon course in Spokane and fin
ished In second place.
This year the meet Is back In
Peoria, and Oregon is allowed four
entries. Portland Jaycees are send
ing Dick Estey. winner of the state
junior tourney.
There is an off chance that John
West Jr. of Klamath Falls might
also make the trip.
Spokane Jaycees were also willing
to soonsor Beeber as one of the
Washington, entrants, provided he ;
qualified at Indian Canyon, but the 1
local Jaycees got in under the wire I
and Beeber Is slated to go from
here and be an Oregon entry.
