A false alarm regarding a burn
ing plane Thursday caused unusuul
contusion at Klamath airport when
numerous light aircraft hurriedly
took off for the scene of the sup
posed blaze.

mediately smoke was seen to rise
from where the plane had gone out
of sight.

burning plane, took olf in "gaggle"
formation from all angles of the
landing strips, plus sthe hangar

Oene Durant of Lakeland Flying

ner." At the same time that planes were
hopping Into the air from all points,
a student pilot attempted a landing
cross-wind and after touching the
strip took off again intercepting a
fire-chasing craft. No mishap oc
curred, and all planes returned
