Legion Feed
Slated For
July 15th
A brer and a half has been ear
marked (or the annual feed of the
Klamath Post No. 8 of the Ameri
can Legion. The feed and Installa
tion meeting has been scheduled for
Tuesday. July 15, 6:30 -p. m. at
, Moore park and plans are being
made to entertain between 600 and
600 guests.
-.Legion representatives from pasts
In Cave Junction, Grants Pass,
Medrord, Ashland. Central Point,
the Rigtie. valley, Merrill, Malln and
lAkrvlew will travel to Klamath
Falls to attend the affair, and in
vitations have been extended to
the Klamath public to Join in the
festivities.
Frits Nlssen, state department
adjutant, will be the main speak
er and will Install the officers of
Klamath Post No. 8. Commander
for the coming year Is Lynn Roy
croft Douglas Pence will serve as
first vice commander, George
Wood, second vice commander. Tom
B. Young, adjutant and finance
officer. New members of the execu
tive committee include Fred Hell
bronner. Bob Odell. Irene Young.
Don Everltt, Julian Abbott, and
Jerry Thomaa. Nlssen will also in
stall the new officers of the Merrill
and Malln posts.
Sam Bowes of Grants Pass, new
district commander of District No.
4. and Art Kellert of Cave Junc
tion, district vice commander, will
also be present. Harry Pinkerton of
Medford, past district vice com
mander, will present Jim Murray
of the Klamath post with an award
for securing S44 new members dur
ing the year.
The Legion feed has been an
annual affair since 1931. The menu
originally included steaks but with
the war and the disappearance of
choice cuts, crab, chicken, or bar
becued beef have been served. Gen
era! chairman for the dinner is
Carl Schubert. Assisting him are
Dr. M. E. Cooper. Les Ftnley, Paul
Otterbein. Fred Hellbronner and
Tom Young.

Friday marks the opening day of
the 1947 state Moose convention. The
affair will last three days and Klam
ath Falls has been designated as
the host city of the state.
Work has been under way for
many weeks in preparation to meet
all the visiting dignitaries of the
lodge and of the many members
throughout the state who will travel
down to the convention.
The Klamath Falls armory has
been named convention headquar
ters .
On Saturday evening at the arm
ory there will be the meeting of the
state Moose association, initiation
and entertainment.
All members will be asked to pick
up uctets at tne local lodge quar
ters or the armory for admittance.
After the ceremonies there will be
a banquet
"Brick" Leech, local Moose gov
ernor, has just returned from Spo
kane, Wash., where he met many of
the high lodge officials. He attended
the Northwest Moose association
meeting. It was learned that the
supreme governor would be unable
to attend due to business, but among
some of the high attending digni
taries will be A. L Weise. deputy
supreme secretary.

lined up for the sports followers.

Friday being the deadline.

the roving sales team, pointed out
that veteran retailers are given a
nriorlty in obtaining war surulus
goods, and many Items are reserved
exclusively for Individual veterans.

during the war. serving for three

P. Zupan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Zupan, 811 Plum street, Klamath
Falls, has recently been promoted to
the rank of sergeant Ho l overseas

fantry regiment as a sound leader In
an Infantry company. The first In
fantry regiment Is a part of the
sixth tniHiitry division which Is on
occupation duty In South Korea.
Sgt. Zupan was drafted Into the
army on April. liHti. but has since
then enlisted In Hie regular army.
He completed his baste training at
Fort Bliss, Texas, ' before coming
overseas to Join the sixth division in
November, 1948.
Prior to entering the service. 8gt.
Zupan attended the Klamath Union
high school and was employed by
the Drake Lumber company In Kla
math Falls.
