critically late yesterday and State
Patrolman Everett olsen reported
he arrested the wonmn'a divorced
husband a few minutes later,
wresting a .38 caliber revolver from
nil hands.

to the Everett jail by Sheriff Tom
Wamock. He was held on an open
chaise.
At the Snohomish General hospi
tal. Robert H. Cole, 63, a Bonneville
administration worker, was con
scious and in a "fair" condition this
forenoon. Mrs. C M, Torgerson, su
perintendent, said.
The father was shot attempting to
defend his daughter, Shrrllfc War
nock said. The couple were divorced
a month ago after year's separa
tion and Simpson hud come to
Snohomish to see their two chil
dren. Audrey, . and Bobby, 8
months. A quarrel ensued between
him and his former wife.
As she returned to the camp late
yesterday, her former husband was
following her, the sheriff said.. Cole

Cole. 16, sister of the slain woman,
rushed out and Cole was shot.
Two passcrsby heard the shots
and ran for a nearby telephone, but
a shot shattered window glass near
them. State Patrolman Olsen. driv
ing by, then leaped from his car
and overcame Simpson.
The couple's two children also
saw the shooting, Sheriff Wnrnock
snld, and as their mother fell to the
ground her body hit the baby car
riage In which the younger one was
lying.
Four Gamei Slated
For Monday Night
Four games will be played In
Monday night's soflball program
at Modoc field, two games at a
time, the two extra games having
been scheduled as an effort to pick
up the games which have had to be
cancelled during the season.
In the regular tilts, the Four Star
Merchant will face the league
leadmg VFW at 7:80 and at 8:30.
the Knights of Columbus will tackle
the Bureau of Reclamation. In the
pick-up games, to be played at the
north end of the field, the Oun
Store will take on Rlckys at 7:30,
and the Kagles will oppose the Ash
ley squad at 8:J0.
