The measure, passed by the last

The 600 delegntes in their final
session ol the annual convention al
so condemned the "poor quality" of
fruit Jar tops and rubbers, and urged
action against low - flying planes
which frighten poultry. .
Astoria was named for next year's
convention, at which time the bi
ennial election will be held.
The grange heard an appeal from
James Marr, Oregon AFL secretary,
for support of the workmen's com
pensation program. He said labor
agreed with the grange's stand on
public power and opposition to a
sales tax

Flaming Car
' PORTLAND, June 7 m One
teen-age passenger died In the
flaming wreckage of a "hot-rod"
near here last night and four of
his companion were Injured seri
ously. In addition two rescuers suffered
burns, one requiring hospitaliza
tion. The dead youth was Clifford Pa
ranto, 18, Portland, a passenger In
the light touring car that crashed
Into an oil truck at Llnnton,
burned to death. Wesley Madsen,
Portland, a city fireman passing
by, helped pull three other boys
from the flaming wreck. A fourth
was thrown clear,
Madsen was hospitalized for
burns. The truck driver, Russell CI.
Weaver, also suffered slight bums
In the rescue work.
Weaver said he was part-way
onto the highway from a side
road, when he saw the car ap
proaching. He halted the truck
and trailer In hopes the car would
awing around him, he said. The ear
hit a 60-gallon gasoline tank on
the truck running board, spraying
the automobile with flames.
