Wheat Weak
Today
CHICAOO, June 7 m Rain
and floods In Midwestern agricul
tural areas, creating apprehension
over the crop outlook, were re
sponsible for plica advances In corn
and oats on the board of trade
today. Wheat weakened under
hedging pressure.
All oats contracts reached new
seasonal high, as did July and
September corn. The July corn
contract sold i t the highest price
of any yellow cereal future here
since May, 1020, when $l.T4 was
reached in the Inflationary boom
after the First World war.
Best price were not maintained,
however, as heavy profit-taking
entered feed grain pits in the final
half hour or trading. In wheat
selling became more pronounced
and the July contract, meeting In
creased hedging, dropped 6 cents
under the preceding close.
Wheat finished H4-4'4 lower,
July (3.23-3.24 corn was 2'i lower
to S higher, July 111 i, and
oat were higher, July Ts-tt.
