    Bible School
To Open On
June Ninth
- Oh Monday, June 9, nt m., the
1B47 session of the vacation church
Bible school will open at the First
Presbyterian church, 6th and Pine.
The school will be conducted each
weekday mornlnft for two weeks be
tween t and 11:30. . .
. Five departments will be Included,
nursery, beginner, primary, junior
and intermediate, covering- ages ol
tour to 14. The school will close on
June 30 with commencement exer
cises to be held that evening, with a
plcnlo the following day.
The curriculum will Include Bible
stories and study, catechism, hand
work, music, group activity and
games. Plans are under way to in
clude motion pictures as one way ol
teaching Bible lessons. The theme ol
the school Is "The Church Uni
versal." Mrs. James Plnnlger Is su
perintendent, with department heads
and teachers as follows: nursery,

'( The Calvary Baptist church is
pleased to announce the coming of
various denominational leaders to
the city June 8. An intensive con
ference has been worked out for this
area with the cooperation of local
churches by which Dr. A. F. Critten
den, executive secretary; Mrs. W. C.
Howell, WMU executive secretary:
Ellis B. Evans, Sunday school and
brotherhood secretary; and Mrs. A.
F. Crittenden, WMU president of
the Southern Baptist general con
vention of California, will lead local
Baptist workers in a one-day leader
ship clinic
Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Crittenden
will be with the Calvary church at
Jl o'clock. Dr. Crittenden and Evans
will conduct conferences in the city
library auditorium at 3:30 p. m.
Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Crittenden
will conduct a WMU conference at
the First Baptist church, at 2:30 also,
while Dr. Crittenden will be guest
speaker there at 11 o'clock. Evans
will be with the Lakeview church for
-the morning service. These services
are open to the public and any in
terested party is cordially Invited to
attend.
Sundstrom Named
Ministerial Head
Recently elected president of the
Klamath Ministerial association is
the Rev. Charles Sundstrom of the
Immanuel Baptist church, who will
serve for a one-year term.
Serving with him will be Rev.
Howard Lane, vice president, oi tne
Church of the Nazarene: Rev. Sel
mar Jacobson, secretary-treasurer,
of the First Covenant church.

evangelistic
The pastor will outline an exten
sive evangelistic program for the
church which will cover a three-
year period. The dally vacation
Bible school will begin Monday at t
a. m. The bus will make its regular
route everv dav and private cars
will assist with transportation. All

The Rev. Victor Phillips, minister
of First Methodist church, will leave
on Friday, with Mrs. Phillips, for

convention as a delegate from the
Klamath Falls Rotary club.
In his absence from the pulpit this

the Rev. Lawrence Guderian. who

The lnter-faith committee of
Klamath Falls, composed of Protes
tant and Roman Catholto members,
this week released an announcement
regarding a proposal for "released
time religious education." Members
of the committee are Rev. David F.
Banictt Jr., Rev. Victor Phillips,
Rev. 8. M. Topness, Percy Murray,
Kenneth Moore, and Lynn Roy
croft. The committee has been studying
the program for over a year, with
the assistance of the Klamath Min
isterial association. The committee
formed is temporary and has had
preliminary discussion with the
board of education.
Following is the statement re
leased by the committee:
"Released time religious educa
tion Is a plan whereby, with the co
operation of the board of education
and the united responsible action of
the community's religious forces,
those children whose parents re.
quest It mav receive one hour per
week In religious education. i
"The state of Oregon has a law I
which permits school boards to re- I
lease children for one hour each j

tion Bible school will begin on Mon
day, June 8, and continue through

8 to 1130 a. m., Monday through

park on Sunday morning.
Cars will assemble at the church
at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to the
appointed place. Kvery member of

service at the park Is soheduled for
the regular worship hour of 11 a.m.
Friends are asked to bring their own
luncheon and utensils. Coffee, tea

Bible Baptist
Slates School
The vacation Bible school of the
Bible Baptist church will be held
at the Shasta school, starting Mon
day morning, June 8. The time will
be from 8:55 a. m. to 12 noon, Mon
day through Friday.
It will be under the direction of
Mis. Oreydon Broyles, who will have
a staff of trained teachers experi
enced in the work. Rev. Keith
Fields will have charge of dally de
votions and will also teach a teach
er training class. A number of the
teachers are coming in from the
Bible Institute of Los Angeles and
the Multnomah School of the Bible.
Vema Balzer from the state of
fice of child evangelism, will have
charge of singing and will also teach.
Golds Orr will be pianist.
All children of the south suburban
area are Invited to attend. There
will be Bible study, memory work,
singing and handwork, and a class
for every age group from three to 14
years, also one for mothers.
Pre-reglstration will be held at
the Bible Baptist church Saturday
between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m.
