Dies At 75
Dr. Lloyd L. Epley, 75, minuter
und educator In Oregon and Cali
fornia tlnce 1914. and father of
Malcolm Epley and Mr. Helen
Hoffman of Klamath Pall, died
Tuesday In Puenle, Calif.
Death followed a lingering Ill
new, Dr. and Mr. Epley had vllt

year, but had returned to Puenle

health.
Horn In Freeport, 111., Dr. Epley
xpenl hi boyhood on a farm In
Nebraska. He graduated from York
college In Nebraska, and received
n matter' degree after work at the
Unlyernlty of Nebruka.
Dr. Epley nerved a a circuit
rider In Nebraaka In the ltW,
traveling conaUntly on horseback
to vllt hi charge. Ha served a a
minuter and conference superin
tendent In the United Brethren
church In Nebraaka, and taught In
York college. After a short period
a acting president of that college,
he came to Oregon In 1914 a pres
ident of Philomath college at Phi
lomath, a denominational school
now cloned. He served on the Ore
gon committee on higher education
curricula.
Doing to California In 1SJ3, he
nerved several pastorates In his
church, Including churches at,
Riverside and Ban Diego. Several
year ago he retired, and has since
been living at Puente.
Survivors Include his widow.
Mr. Mlna Hall Epley, a teacher
and writer, the ton and daughter
here, nix grandchildren Including
Mr. Edward Simpson, formerly of
Klamath Pall, now living at Hon
king near Corvalll: Malvern D.
and William L. Alcorn, Malcolm
