rationing of newsprint or fed
eral power to supplement volun

The printer. Francis J. Mclu
tce of the Consolidated Color
Press, Inc., told a senate sub-,
committee studying newsprint
problems that he had been sub
ject to price "discrimination" In
buying paper and had spent
"three months of frantic effort"
In getting supplies.
Mclntee said hi-s paper sup
plier, the Clinton Paper corpor
ation. Brooklyn, had "discrim
inated" between his company
and another in price.
He testified that Clinton had
billed Consolidates for $113 a
ton. while Clinton's president,
J. Galewitz. informed him the

Police Hold
Two On Theft
PORTLAND. March 12 IIP)
State police said today that two
young men had confessed 12
burglaries, the younger man ex
plaining he was stealing tools in
order to go into business for
himself.
The pair, arrested Tuesday
night in Hlllsboro, gave ' their
names as Alvln Irving Nealy, 20,
and Warren John Gereaux, 21.
They lived together In Mil
waukie. State Policeman E. Herder
said Nealy told him he and his
wife and baby could .not live on
his cannery wages, and that he
lacked money to buy tools.
Tools and hardware recovered
from a shed to which Herder
said the men directed him wcro
valued at $3000. Police said the
equipment had been taken from
10 stores in Washington county,
one In Milwaukie, and one in
Battleground, Wash.
Gilchrist Men
Suffer Injuries
Accidents occurring over the
week-end at Gilchrist put two
men, Shorty Closaon and Arnold
Krueger, In the hoapital with
serious Injuries.
Shorty Closson was crushed
Friday morning by a carrier run
by Bob Thomas at the Gilchrist
mill. His knee is broken in two
filaces, one above the knee and
n the knee. He la now at St.
Charles hospital In Bend and ex
pects to be there for three
weeks.
Arnold Krueger fell down
stairs at his home early Satur
day morning. He was rushed to a
hospital. He has deep cuts
around the face, a fractured
nose, and a broken wrist. He
probably will be home Thursday
or Friday.
Plane Crash Kills
Pilot, Passenger
WILBUR, Wash,, March 13
(IP) A light plane, going into a
spin at 200 feet, carried two
men to their deaths yesterday
when it crashed on a farm two
miles from the Wilbur airport.
' The victims were Lewis
Hinger, 43, Mallott. Wash., ga
rage man and pilot of the plane,
and Joe Snider, Wenatchee,
about 50, a passenger.
Authorities said the clane
crashed on the V. E. Jurgensen
farm where only last Sunday
) Hinger had made a forced land-

tee. They said the Indian schools
do not prepare them for the
white colleges and the Indian
colleges do not give them tech
nical or professional training

rected verdict of acquittal on
